Summer is here! That means you likely have some lazy, relaxing days ahead of you. If your family is anything like mine, more free time means more snacking! Snacking doesn’t have to mean mindlessly munching on junk food. In our house, we like to find really simple (because I like to use my free time to actually relax!), healthy snacks to keep on hand for those moments of boredom when we just want to much.
Bonus: All of these snacks are also great for new parents who may not have time to get full meals in. These snacks are fairly well balanced, and can be eaten with one hand! Plus, mamas who may be snuggling a sweaty baby will appreciated how refreshing these are!
Frozen Yogurt and Berry Cups: These frozen treats make a delicious snack, but they also double as dessert! Full of fruit and protein, these will give you a boost of energy while satisfying your sweet tooth. They only take a few minutes to whip together, and my kids ask for them daily!
Avocado and Hummus Dip: This Avocado dip gains a boost of protein from the hummus and black beans. It is super easy to throw together for last minute gatherings with friends, or when you just need something to hold you over until dinner without ruining your appetite.
Yogurt covered blueberries: When you just want a little taste of something sweet, these yogurt covered blueberries fit the bill. The tart, juicy berries are just what you need to cool you off on a hot day.
Cucumber Sandwiches: These refreshing bites offer a crunchy, snack-sized version of the traditional sandwich. Add whatever fillings you happen to have on-hand. These are sure to cool you off and fill you up!
Chocolate banana bites: For more of a crunchy snack, these frozen, chocolate-covered bananas are just right. Throw these on top of some plain, full-fat yogurt if you want to add some substance, or pop them straight in your mouth for a quick, crunchy treat.
Happy summer!
