Shop Small Series: Pulling Down the Moon

by | Dec 5, 2016 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Here at The Chicago Doulas, we’re passionate about supporting small businesses and we know our clients are too. This holiday season, we wanted to highlight some local small businesses that we believe are amazing assets to expectant and new families.

The first business in our Shop Small Series is Pulling Down the Moon.

WHY AM I HAVING TROUBLE GETTING PREGNANT? HOW CAN I HELP MY BREECH BABY TO TURN? WHEN WILL THIS FIRST TRIMESTER NAUSEA GO AWAY?

These are all questions that Pulling Down the Moon has a solution for!

Much like The Chicago Doulas, Pulling Down the Moon has a passion for helping with the creation of families, works closely with healthcare providers, and believes firmly in a holistic model that supports the body, mind, and spirit.

Pulling Down the Moon offers a variety of services, namely acupuncture, massage, dietary counseling, and yoga, that can assist with fertility as well as discomforts of pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

The support doesn’t stop there, however–they’re area experts in holistic women’s health and can support health & happiness for women at all life stages.

By no means is this list exhaustive, but here’s some of the things Pulling Down the Moon can offer specifically to pregnant and postpartum women:

  1. Acupuncture: Can improve fatigue, nausea and vomiting, perinatal depression, sleep troubles, breech or malpositioned babies, labor readiness, back pain, and leg cramps
  2. Massage: Improves blood supply to the uterus, decreases swelling, promotes relaxation, decreases pain, and diminishes muscle tension from pregnancy and holding or nursing a baby.
  3. Dietary counseling: Eating nutrient-dense foods, gaining the an appropriate amount of weight for you and your baby, exercise during pregnancy, supplements for pregnancy and lactation.
  4. Yoga: Reduces stress, helps to ready a pregnant person’s body for labor, relieves musculoskeletal aches and pains.

The Chicago Doulas works closely with Pulling Down the Moon, particularly at their River North location. You’ll find the office to be warm and inviting, a place that immediately puts you at ease. Other office locations are in Highland Park & Buffalo Grove.

I can think of no better way to relax this holiday season than with a prenatal massage or acupuncture treatment!
