Birth Doula Support
Here at Third Coast Birth & Baby, we offer two models of birth support.
Through our community model of care clients have access to monthly group prenatal meetings. These meetings aim to provide education in an environment that removes fear and facilitates community building among families. It has been well studied and documented that social support greatly improves the birth and postpartum experience, and our aim with these meetings is just that. Each meeting includes a presentation or discussion on a topic relevant to late pregnancy, birth, or the early weeks and months after baby is born. After the discussion, each family will spread out and find a private space in the room so that they can connect with their doulas and discuss recent updates, questions, and labor preferences. Our monthly meetings provide a wonderful opportunity to learn from your doulas as well as your peers, build community, and connect with your support team so that as your birth approaches you feel confident and calm.
Our traditional model is a wonderful fit for busy families. Whether your schedule makes it difficult to attend a monthly meeting, or you would prefer to customize your meeting with your doula team – the traditional support model offers an intimate, uniquely tailored, and comprehensive visit that takes place in the comfort of your own home at a time that works for your busy schedule. Your prenatal visit is a great time to connect with your doula team, discuss your labor preferences, answer questions, and start preparing for what life will be like with your new addition. These visits are typically held in the comfort of your home, or they can also take place in our community space in Logan Square.
